When I say protection, I mean I saw this guy today with a helmet, face guard, gloves, and those ankle straps. Don't get me wrong, I know it's dangerous out there. But how uncomfortable? Considering it's 30 degrees today.
I've got to go on the style side. I can't do a helmet. Not with my hair! I ride slower than some pedestrians walk. Don't care. I like to ride like I've got all the time in the world!
There is just a basket on my bike. Practical me says, limit the load. It's important that I keep the day-luggage to one bag - so no extra shoes and all that crap. On press days, I often stick to digital and not the mountains of releases and booklets they give. Just a card and a link for me please. Thank you... Yes it's greener and it's lighter on the shoulder too.
Getting back to the subject...I learned to ride in high heels for practical reasons, which is a bit like a burlesque routine before you get the hang of it. It's easy, just place to flat of the foot on the peddle and go. Except for stopping. It's all a bit wobbly trying to balance on bike and curb in 4 inch heels and platforms. But THANK GOD for the curb. It's the only thing keeping the balance after a quick stop. Catching a glance in a window as I pass, my leg kicked out provocatively gliding down the road. Notice that all the best girls ride with a bit of glam. Well, the ones I know at least. They ride in heels and mini skirts. I just can't do the mini. Not too keen on flashing on the go.
The delights of swooshing through the streets, perched high upon tip toes. Almost floating by the sweaty and the over padded. Pause at a light and whip out the red lippy for a touch up. Flash a bit of leg. Glance over at the red faced guy next to you as the light turns green, just before setting off...wink!

Nice to read you. I admire your bike spirit. As you know, I have try to use that bike we rescued from the roof. I even spent a hole day cleaning the rust. But once I went to Covent Garden, I realized that I suffered the travel, I didn't enjoy it at all. I prefer to take the bus and do anything else, like read or listen to things with my earphones.
One more thing, you should publicize your blog anywhere you can, like in your facebook and myspace profiles, send it to your friends. You will get good feedback and some fans.
Miss you.
